I am so bummed because I was supposed to be in New Zealand then! Doh! Is anyone from the forum attending? If so, the following information may come in handy:

>To Whom it May Concern:
>
>To your knowledge, will Neil Finn be donating >anything to "The Opportunity of a Lifetime" >Charity Auction? If so, will it only be open >to those attending the event or can people in >other countries bid, as well? Thanks in >advance for your consideration.
>
>Sincerely,
>
>Jennifer Granozio

Hello Jennifer

Thank you for your email; yes Neil Finn will make a donation at the event, and it is something special to be experienced at the evening in question so the bidder needs to be present. However other auction items can be bid on by telephone or on behalf of another party.

I hope this help. Please let me know if I can assist with any other queries.

Thanks and kind regards

Sandy

Oh, Finngirl, I was hoping you might be there after all! JennyG, I might have to rob a bank because I was counting on there not being a Neil item to bid on (this trip is going to cost a lot as it is but I just had to do it!). Thanks for letting us know!

You know, this event is black tie so I'm wondering if that will go for Neil as well. Neil in a tuxedo?! I'm hyperventilating just thinking about it! Hopefully I will lose enough weight by then to fit into the gown I want to wear. Wish me luck everyone!

OMG, I just got an email from Sandy in response to my query about Mondiale. I've got a PhD in genetics but I've slumming as a wine chemist for years and am tired of not doing science so I wondered if I could help somehow and it appears I will be talking to Ray Avery himself! Anybody know any info that I need to know before I meet him?

Hi Message Girl,

Have not had time to read the posts....but are you going to the "private evening with Mr Finn" ??
I found out about it today and it took less than 3 seconds for me to decide I "had" to go!! in spite of everything (eg possible unemploymnet, economic crisis, swine flu)....
anyway, 1 hour later, had tickets from Canberra to Auckland, accommodation and "THE EVENING WITH ticket booked!!! It is a great cause and I would rather see him in NZ at a show with 350 people, than travel to the Sydney Entertainment Centre and see him play with an audience of 12,000.

It should be a great show.

(should clarify the swine flu bit. I don't have it!!)

My Auntie is going, with her best freind. I must say I'm dead jelous but hopefully she'll let me know all the details. It was my Auntie's husband who sent me tapes of Split Enz many years ago that got me into Neil Finn.

OMG, what a night!!! CK is the most wonderful person in the world because she got Oscar Kightley to have Neil say hi to me from onstage!! I was shaking for the rest of the show! I also got to meet Mike Chunn who is absolutely darling and still handsome after all these years.

Hair 'n Pants - the black suit he's wearing on the website for the charity concert, forest green checked shirt we've all seen him wear before, black somewhat pointy boots, and the same hairstyle he's been sporting for the past year or more.

Highlights of the setlist: Message To My Girl at the grand piano where he commented on how romantic the candles onstage were. You've Got a Friend - interesting cover! Strait Ol' Line performed the way he wrote it, saying it was meant to be gospel but admitted afterwards that it didn't sound gospel at all. Anytime just because that was right after he said hi to me and it was the inspiration for me to undertake this whole trip.

I'll post more later when I've got access to a better computer or let the WONDERFUL CK chime in once she gets home.
