A Radiohead fan has just done an in depth interview with Ed O'Brien about lots of Radiohead detail and in the interview Ed has mentioned that Neil is planning another 7 World's Collide project which both Ed & Phil Selway will be involved in. Apparently this time it will be in some kind of studio environment though.
The particular dropping of this information can be found here: http://www.ateaseweb.com/mb/index.php?showtopic=235047465 But the audio from the interview should turn up here sometime today I think: http://www.ateaseweb.com/mb/index.php?showtopic=235047571 Personally I'm very excited by this. I love the DVD. |

This is probably the same project others have mentioned recently and has sometimes been referred to as a re-release of old 7 worlds Collides material.
Personally I think this ties in perfectly with what Neil has mentioned in recent interviews when he speaks about upcoming projects and how its not exactly solo stuff. I love the idea and hope that they get more people involved (as well as some new songs). youll never see the end of the road while your travelling with me... |

Well, this is certainly exciting -- not that I have any insight into what is happening.
If it's a release of other material from the original 7WC sessions, I certainly hope there is an audio release of "Four Seasons" with Johnny Marr's harmonica solo. That is one of my all-time favorite Finn tracks. And if it's something else entirely....well, wow! |

I think this topic was previously raised following a rumour on a Pearl Jam site. Someone recording at Neil's Roundhead studios said that Neil said something to someone about it. Highly verifiable Although, now that Ed O'Brien has spoken about it, this seems to be moving beyond rumour. |

This sounds interesting, would have loved to be in the right place at the right time for the original gigs, wonder if there's any chance of a tour hmmmm.... must start saving.

I thought it was a studio project.
I think the logistics of getting a lot of high-caliber performers to clear their schedules so they can all do a world tour together in tribute to the genius and songs of Neil Finn...well, let's be honest: they'd be crazy not to do it! What a great opportunity for them! Yet I too have a feeling it might not happen. -- > _ |

Not really the reality I am sure, but it could be interesting to see CH with the 7WC group....
Although it may be a nice departure for Neil after the new CH album is recorded and there is down time till the album comes out and a new CH tour!!! I'll take Neil and co. being active any ole' way. |

Here's the exact quote from the interview now. It starts off from talking about if Ed would do solo stuff:
Wons: Great! Okay, so any songs kicking around that you-- Ed: Yeah, I've got some stuff, but it's one thing--whether it's appropriate for the band, you know. Because, uh, I'm going out with Phil and we're hopefully going to ??? with Neil Finn and do that thing again at Christmas-- Wons: Really? That was great! Ed: Yeah, thank you, and they're gonna do it hopefully with the same people, maybe play a couple with Wilco as well. We're gonna go in the studio, so that might be a good time to, like--some stuff that's not maybe suitable for Radiohead, it would be good to put that in that-- |

WILCO?!? Wilco is one of my all-time favorite bands. It's kind of hard to tell from Ed's syntax, but is he saying Wilco might be involved with the 7WC project as well?

I had the same reaction, slowpogo.
Wilco? Oh, my! Really? Are you kidding me? Are there more than 7 Worlds? Feels like it. Love to be a fly on the wall at Roundhead .... ..the hills will breathe like a baby pulled up heaving from the bottom of the ocean ... |

Oh so would I, Above the Kitchen so would I
I have always wanted to spend Christmas in NZ....I wounder if they maybe need someone to make coffee at Roundhead....or something......anything I've never seen anything like 7 Worlds, seven years ago(pretty much dropped everything and went over the second I was able to get tickets, but my circumstances were different then) very excited and very interested to see how things happen on this |

Wow!
The same line up as last time plus Wilco. That could be one of the most talent-filled studios witnessed this century. Possibly last too. Marr, Vedder, Wilco, Radiohead, Neil...all they need is to rope Andy Partridge in and they'll break some kind of talent world record! Whatever they end up doing, I will be waiting very keenly for it. |

This will be amazing if it happens. Another trip across the pond possibly, which would be 3 times in less than 12 months for me! Will be looking forward to further development on this front thanks

Any further word on this project? It seems wild that with CH back in full swing, and Neil apparently so into it, that he would do this. But it's also really exciting. One of the coolest things about NF is that he plays in so many different configurations, with so many different musicians.
I hope there are enough songs to feed both projects. |

Could be interesting to see Crowded House and the 7 Worlds crew. I wonder if Neil is reintroducing this group of musicians because it helps balance the Crowded House stuff. Rather than compartmentalizing the projects in different time periods, maybe he sees value in mixing them rather than putting one off?
