Hello folks! Haven't posted here in ages.
Just grabbed today's Washington Post on my way back into town from a week away, and I saw this concert listed on the Wolftrap schedule: A Tribute to Neil Finn/Crowded House Featuring: Naked Blue, Jon Carroll, Margot MacDonald, John Jennings, David Kitchen Band, King Teddy,Cal Everett and Deeme Katson, Luke Brindley, Todd Wright, Alfonso Velez, Harry Traynham, Bruno Loves Danger, Diane Rosenthal, Rocky Roberts All your favorite Crowded House hits performed by D.C.’s greatest artists. BandHouse Gigs is a DC metro-area production company that has been staging benefit and tribute shows in the area for four years. Recent shows at The Barns include tributes to Warren Zevon and Allen Toussaint. More information here: http://www.wolftrap.org/Find_P...arns/0213show10.aspx The DC area has some pretty wonderful local musicians. This could be quite good. And now, time to recover from vacation. The sofa - she is calling me. Cheers from chilly Maryland, Merujo www.merujo.com “If there's any message to my work, it is ultimately that it’s OK to be different, that it’s good to be different, that we should question ourselves before we pass judgment on someone who looks different, behaves different, talks different, is a different color.” -- Johnny Depp |

I'm glad this concert is happening, though watching other musicians do cover "tribute" versions ain't quite my cup of Horlicks.
Here's the latest news about the event: "A Tribute to Neil Finn/Crowded House Featuring: Naked Blue, Jon Carroll, Margot MacDonald, John Jennings, David Kitchen Band, King Teddy, Cal Everett, Deeme Katson, Luke Brindley, Todd Wright, Alfonso Velez, Harry Traynham, Bruno Loves Danger, Diane Rosenthal, and Rocky Roberts Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. $25 "Wolf Trap welcomes local artists to The Barns for a musical tribute to the works of Neil Finn/Crowded House, who was recently deemed as a "national treasure" of New Zealand by icons David Byrne and Shawn Colvin. Boasting an exceptionally deep song catalog, making him the ideal candidate for one of Wolf Trap's yearly tribute shows at The Barns, Finn is known best for his unwillingness to replicate his small collection of hit songs in favor of commercialization and/or the achievement of pop-star status. Instead, he refused to limit himself a formula and embraced a multitude of song-craft, pulling influence from the music that moved him since his years as a teenage prodigy in New Zealand. Wolf Trap has gathered a collection of fine regional musicians with the goal of recreating the on-stage intimacy, collaboration, and good humor that so aptly defined Finn and Crowded House's live performances." |

Something So Strong |
Looks like this show may be sold out. Did anyone from the DC planet in the Frenz galaxy snag some tixx?
And tears will fall and oceans will rise I feel the fear and I know I'm alive |

I would like to have gone, but at $25, I'd much rather hang at the Village Lantern in NYC, have a few drinks and hear Colin Smith do a few CH tunes (and whatever else he feels like playing).
