I know there is some talk of trying to get this imported into a few countries- if we hear more we'll mention it.

Yay!
Thanks Gryphon - Looking forward to more news.
Any idea which outlets in the US will have it?

Hello, I'm maccahelp from Spain.

I've just received today the 2 CD's edition of "The Sun Came Out" from Shangai!!!!! I've bought it through eBay at a very good price.

It's incredible and very sad but nobody knows nothing in Spain about these CD's. It's sad but Sony is making an horrible distribution of these CD's. And if we talk about and edition in DVD, it would be better not to say nothing.

Anyway the music of Neil and their mates is great. It has been worth it to wait three weeks to recieve this jewel in my house. Smiler

My vinyl copy arrived the other week...sorry it has taken a while to get organised but I thought there is enough discussion re: vinyl in Neil's area and others that some people may like to see some pics.

It was my first amazon.com experience and a good one - shipped promptly and 10 days delivery although a default 6 - 8 weeks was quoted when I ordered.

Front Cover

Back Cover

Gatefold

And a few other photos available here:

The Sun Came Out Vinyl

Yes, it looks better than the photos and sounds brilliant. If you're thinking about it...go on, you know you want to Wink

i presume all the profits from the vinyl go to oxfam, the same as the other releases?

Thanks Vereor Smiler

I believe the profits do go to Oxfam and there is also the statement on the bottom of the back cover "The Sun Came Out has been made to support Oxfam's fight against global poverty"

Also forgot to mention the LP set comes with a download code for a digital copy for those of you who didn't get the double cd.

Edit: sorry Gryphon, had too many windows open and din't see the post on the profits come through.

I got my LP set yesterday, and it's every bit as gorgeous as SWHHW's pictures suggest--another reminder that we lost something in terms of aesthetic appeal when we went to the smaller cd format.

Now if I could just find my LP of Time on Earth...

Amazon have yet to fail me, the delivery time is always better than they quote. Most often a lot quicker than getting something posted from the East Coast of Australia to the West Coast.

It is rare for me to sit back and read the CD liner notes, could have something to do with needing glasses Wink but there is just something magical about holding a LP in your hands, and being able to appreciate the artwork.

Going of topic here, anyone know where can get the plastic sleeves with the zip top to protect the LP covers?

Unless it's Amazon UK- they now send their parcel mail via Europe so what would of normally take 7-10 days to Australian can take 4-6 weeks now.

Plus we all pay the same postal rate as before.... annoying.

Thanks so much for alerting me to your post SWHHW. Smiler

Based on that, and your pictures, I've just ordered this vinyl through Amazon. Big Grin

I wish CH/Tim Solo/Neil Solo/Finn Brothers would release all their albums in vinyl (as well as CD). I'd go for vinyl every single time.

Thanks again SWHHW. Big Grin

My pleasure TR...I knew you were a girl after my own heart with this one. Big Grin

Yes, I'd love every release in vinyl too and would go for both that and the cd versions.

As long as we keep buying them it gives Neil every reason to keep releasing them.

Note the slight resequencing: Learn to Crawl and Riding the Wave have swapped places (you can see thisin SWHHW's second picture). Not a big fan of the change, as it breaks up my favorite five-song sequence. But there you go.

So glad I bought the LP of this after the disappointing CDs. It enabled me to really get into the album.

Quick thoughts after listening just before-

Favourite sides? I think side 4 is doing it for me at the moment.

I'd never heard Seb Steinberg sing before. What a revelation! He reminds me of Chris Whitley, especially in the lower registers. The Water is a gorgeous ending for the album.

I went back to my headphone setup for the first time in ages. Lights off, lying on the couch with the music turned up. The sense of immersion is fantastic- I imagine a really good speaker setup and a comfy listening chair could do it to (plus the benefits of speakers) but for those of us with space constraints, headphones can provide. I just listened to the MFSL 2LP of Beck's Sea Change, followed by TSCO, and it was a fabulous musical experience. It's been a while since I've been totally immersed, and I love it!

Chris Whitley song as comparison:

Scrapyard Lullaby

Not that similar I guess, but he certainly sprang to mind listening to The Water.
