Peter Green, it was YOU that we wanted Neil to get on Skype! I think we would all have liked to shouted out a huge thank you - but you weren't online - tut tut Wink

Tonight was really really great. Exactly what you would imagine a show would be like when the room is full of fans - and of course you have someone as talented as Neil.

I can only describe it as being like having your own, real, live, Finn music jukebox.

I often wish I could shout loud enough to get a request played, but when you're in the company of like-minded folks, it really doesn't matter, because their choices will do just fine. Thank you all for your excellent shout-outs Smiler I think the only one that was ignored was Lullaby Requiem.

Tonight went by so fast, it was almost too much to take in. I was totally transfixed and transported from my daily existence.

The venue had been recommended to Neil by Liam, who apparently loved it. Quite rightly so. Not only is it intimate, but the acoustics seemed pretty good.

I agree, kudos to you Steven - I also love the fact that Neil remembers you.

Twice If You're Lucky, although it is indeed the one that has "been on a long journey", still differs from the original. Expect discussion of that song to continue...

For anyone wondering there was no mention (or indeed plugging) of the 7WC film. Towards the end of the show Neil sang happy birthday to Emma Banks. That name rings a bell - doesn't she either work for EMI, or in some kind of promotion role for Neil? Well thanks for letting us share your party Emma Big Grin

Wasn't that just great, A finn jukebox is a great description, I got "Into the sunset" played (which I never thought I'd hear live again. And I was the poor soul who wanted Lullaby requiem, I felt shamed when Neil couldn't understand what I'd said, as I heard others go " what?" so I didn't shout it again, silly I know, It just seemed right when he was reminiscing about his Mum.

What made this so special for me was that (and I'm almost ashamed to say this) I'm not a massive fan of "the sun came out" and a set full of those songs seemed to be the most likely. So what we got was just bliss, one of the best things I've ever attended. so worth the 7 hour round trip. right up there with my first crowded house gig in Leicester, the "together alone tour" with Maori choir, Neil at the symphony hall, and Neil in Edinburgh the night before my wedding.

Thanks to Neil, and all who made this happen, and those cracking backing singers , and piano players.
:-)

Thank you to all...and to Alucidor and Stoat, what wonderful, heartfelt reviews. Hope more will appear later.

Looking forward to the videos when I get home from work. And looking forward to yours when you post them up StevieP.

Too funny about about Leaps and Bounds. Aussie indie acts had 2 Paul Kelly tribute shows last November and they didn't play Leaps and Bounds there on the first night! Of course the man himself played it as the closer when he attended night 2. There is some wonderful Hessie's Shed footage of Leaps and Bounds out there too.

And I love the comment about the family gathering DivineMrsM.

So glad all the tickets sold to club members - what a wonderful night.

Oh see now I *really* wish I was there! Looks & sounds like it was a great night. What a diverse setlist, you are all so lucky, those who got to go.

Stoat, your videos seem to have captured the mood of the night as well, they're fantastic, thanks for sharing them.

Love Elephants, what a beautiful song!

And that red stage curtain reminds me of TOLM... nice!

Yeah Elephants is a really nice way to end the album too.... one of my faves.

Glad it was a good night, once again our IN box swamped with emails, but so far all good.

Well this sounds just amazing! What a generous evening.

Dare I ask -- is "Steven" on piano the famous Steven Bell who came on stage and played Message to My Girl and Four Seasons with Neil around the time of One Nil / One All?

Into the Sunset -- wow!!

I was just listening to the youtube clips (thanks for those!!). As I listened to Four Seasons in One Day, I thought about how much Neil must have enjoyed the lovely 3 part harmony from the audience.

What treat is must have been to be there!!

Oh what a night! I never thought I'd get to see Neil play in such an intimate environment...as near to him playing in my front room as it'll ever get.

Private Universe was played first and from there on it was just magical. I can't remember the details, still a bit overwhelmed by it all. Only Talking Sense and Message To My Girl were maybe highlights for me.

Thank you to everyone for the lovely singing - and the lack of crowd chatter, I don't think I've ever been to such a quiet gig before, a usual bugbear of mine!

Thank you Peter for getting this one out to the fans.

Will be looking forward to more eloquent reviews from you all soon! (Early shift, not good!)

yes, it was Steve bell. Neil recognised Steve and asked him half way through playing sinner if he wanted to join in on piano. Steve declined saying he didn't know it that well. At the endbif the song neil asked him if there was anything he wanted to play. Steve chose love you til the day I die despite him claiming not to have played it for ages. Needless to say he pulled it off

Leaps and bounds was a request. The guy in the audience was pleading for it to be played saying he'd never heard the song played live before. Neil was then joking that he'd never been asked to play a song before that the person requesting the song didn't even know. Neil started talking about him mum and played a couple of hilarious ditties on the piano that his mum had taught him and then played Gentle Hum. At the end of the song the guy shouted out "so are you not going to play leaps and bounds then?"

What an awesome gig it was! I can only agree with the person who said it was like having a Neil Fin n Jukebox in front of you- he really did try and play as many sings as he could that the audience shouted out for. Amazing!

The highlight for me was Into the Sunset, which is a huge favourite and prompting the words of the second verse!

Fantastic night! Big Grin
