Neil was on Sydney's Today Show this morning, talking about his involvement in The Buttery Project.

The Buttery is a rehab centre and musician Richard Grossman (from Oz band Hoodoo Gurus) is putting together a CD to raise money to support the work of The Buttery. Among contributors is Neil, who has contributed a song called Guiding Star, which will be on the album. I believe it's going to be released around October.

Neil played a small snippet of Guiding Star on the piano and it sounds absolutely beautiful. It wasn't written for the project, but Grossman commented in the interview that it might as well have been, it's that fitting.

Today Show mentioned that they will have more information about The Buttery Project later in the year, including release details of the CD.

thanks for the links Finngirl!

No they weren't live in the studio - a pre-recorded interview.

hey, I wasn't tuned in either but my husband noticed an ad for the Today show last night which said Neil would be on talking about a new project, so i set the video

Edited to say: As an aside, I thought Neil looked really old in this interview. A trivial thing, I know, but just an observation

So when did he write that? Was this culled from the songs being written for the forthcoming album?

Thankyou for updating the link Romer Smiler
Mr.Sadly, from what I have read,Neil wrote it a couple of years ago but it did'nt seem to 'fit' anywhere, when he heard about the project it seemed to be the right home for Guiding Star Smiler

Thanks for the background, Finngirl.

It's amazing, this guy. He's got enough songs flowing through that he can pick and choose, even holding good ones back because they're not quite right for a current project. Most acts just slap the best 12 or so tracks they can come up with on their next album whether it makes a good fit or not!

I wasn't able to check it out before (from work) but I just caught the snippet and yes, it seems perfect!
