Jeepers! I just looked up St. Andrew's Hall on MapQuest, and it's in a borderline cruddy area. Not that there's any really GREAT areas in the city limits of Detroit...

Oh well. We'll just have to walk fast and get inside QUICK! I have a feeling that February in Detroit won't be as kind, weather-wise, as July in Chicago was anyway. So, I probably will NOT be passing out the Frenz nametags and smiley stickers. At least, not outside on line! Because otherwise, how will Neil know it's US???

((grin))

Planning my bad behaviour in advance,

((JUST kidding!!!))

He's not on the calendar yet for The Town Hall in NYC. But there is nothing scheduled for the night he's supposed to be there.

I'm tickled to bits that The Town Hall has seating, my feet haven't recovered from the last show.

Betty and Rorympb et al,

I have lived most of my life in California and in the last few weeks, have relocated to central NJ ( close to NYC) for reasons I wont even get into : )
I soooooooohave to go to Neils shows in NYC and Philli. This is pathetic but.....I dont know anyone but my family here. Are you guys up for meeting up before the show in NYC??? I am normally sort of shy -but like I said, I don't know anyone-so I don't really have anyone to go with me ( that knows his music as well as I do anyway) It would be great to get to meet other Finnatics! Let me know?!

OK - my husband and I had no problem traveling in the middle of summer to Chicago from St. Louis, but in the middle of winter??? UUUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!
I can't believe St. Louie is getting skipped again! But, I guess I should expect it - haven't seen Neil here since '94 with Crowded House. So, in other words, I don't know if we'll make it or not (although I'm hinting desperately to my husband that the 5th of Feb is the day before my b-day!!!). But, just in case, could anyone give us information about nearby hotels!?! The Parkwest was great this past summer - our hotel was in walking distance and it was a great neighborhood to do such.
Thanks for any help!

Not to sound too whiny, but I'm very disappointed by the tour dates Neil has for the next US swing. I know we're lucky he's even coming, but I just can't swing a trip to any of those towns. It's strange that he's skipping Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Orlando, Charlotte, Miami, New Orleans, Tampa, Cincinnatti, Phoenix, etc, but is going back to 13 of the same cities as last summer. There's only 2 new towns - Detroit and Denver. Nothing against where he's going, but I'm not in a good mood now. Still holding out hope though!.........

February US tour = new snow tires for Xmas, I guess... Wink

Not sure which show... I think I'd like to do Toronto by virtue of never having been there... but DC tends to be an easy drive and we have friends (and Frenz) there.

Philly is the dark-horse in all of this, as I'd still like to go to (Iron Chef) Masaharu Morimoto's restaurant. Probably not Chicago this time around, as we can't pimp a family wedding for an extra travel day.

Once again it would appear that we who helped Crowded House kick off one of their world tours get shafted. C'mon, Neil, give us a wee break. Forget the show you guys did at the Convention Center, remember the happy times, when you played at the Jube and you had openers like Chalk Circle and Richard Thompson. I spent the last four years selling a schwack of Finn/Enz/House stuff at my store (now I'm going to teach it at my school).
Scott Rankin from Nettwerk in Vancouver can verify most of this. He knows how I suffer...
he feels my pain... and hopefully he'll remember he promised me a pair for any show on the next tour! It would be grand if I didn't have to commute to Van from Edmonton, but this time, I might have to.
EDMONTON NEEDS NEIL!

Oh, I'm so glad to see Neil coming back again! Cool

I'm like you, Kill Eye ... I want a seat!!! I did recover from the July Chicago Neil show after 2 days (the standing blew out my knees & ankles groovin to the sweet tunes of Neil et al). Eeker

Since then, I have been concert-crazy (or just lucky, I guess!) and have seen Elvis Costello in Indianapolis, Beck & The Flaming Lips in Indy, Yes in Fort Wayne, and just last Thursday night ... Peter Gabriel ... in Chicago at the United Center (the very nice house Michael Jordan built).

If any of you get an opportunity to see Peter Gabriel, it was the most outstanding show I've seen in literally years (besides Neil, of course), and by all means GO SEE HIM!!! I was blown away. But from the 10th row floor seat, I stood and "grooved to the tunes" once again, and this time I messed up my Achilles tendon and couldn't go shopping the next day! It sucks so bad getting old!!!

I want seats!!! And I remember the Vic being SRO last time I saw Neil there in '98 ... boo hoo! Is there any way I can contain myself and stand still? I don't think so! I can't stand still when I hear Neil, his music moves me so! Big Grin

I just bookmarked the Ticketmaster artist page for Neil, and I will keep checking. If the concert date of 29 Jan is on sale now, then 4 Feb can't be too far behind, right? So far, the next date posted is LA on 10 Feb.

Well, I was holding out hope for more US dates, but things don't look good. What's so disheartening about this is that it will probably be 4 years again befor ehe ventures back for a US swing.

Good luck to everyone in 2006.

sigh
