Hi there! This is to let everybody know that we are experimenting with moderating new registrations. The board will still be open for everybody to read whether or not you log in. However, if you are new, want to post, and are just registering now, there will be a delay. I will probably say HI over email and want to hear back. Once that happens, I will turn your posting ability ON, and you will be free to post to any public forum here.
Why are we doing that? We recently had a problem with a certain member or two who were posting a number of unwelcome posts. What felt like every day, I and the other moderators awoke to find posts from this person, but sometimes with new names. This person created 2 new names in the last few days, and I think his total was around 10 identities at last count. So by watching who is a new user, we are hoping to curb this person's appetite for new identities. Why not just ban him? We got a number of requests to ban him, but decided that was not the best match to the forum. The forum is about mutual respect and a community, and the kind of community that I want doesn't shut out anybody. We have rules/guidelines that we enforce, and we prefer people who feel like they match our rules and guidelines, but I don't even want to kick anybody out, and for what? Not being like me enough? That's silly stuff. I want to be respectful to this person even if he doesn't feel like being respectful to me or us. So he is welcome here under his original name, and his posts won't be deleted if they follow our spirit and rules. That's all I'm asking, and it's the same thing I ask from every member. :) Thanks for reading this. If you have any questions, please email me privately at deb@aswas.com or start a thread in General Frenz. Debbie |
