This one is well obscure and is from a (I think) Australian wildlife program about the Cane Toad featuring this little ditty, he probably did some more music for it too. Must have been done just before or after Tim's self titled album and before joining Crowded House. I wonder if there is a sample/ library album about with this and more of Tim's music, and how much more did he write on commission? I got this snippet from a UK Channel 4 show called TV Heaven & TV Hell (the guest was comic/ musician Bill Bailey). I even put the chords down!

E
Cane toads a comin'
Cane toads a comin'

A
Cane toads a comin'
E
Cane toads a comin'

G
Cane toads a comin'
A
Cane toads a comin'

E
Cane toads a comin'
G D E
It's the cane toad blues

CHORDS:
E 022100
A X02220
G 320033
D xx0232

Believe it or not, I have seen this documentary (hardcore fandom or what? lol). That was the only Tim song on it. Unfortunately the video came from a library I don't have access to anymore so no chance of borrowing it again. IIRC, the song plays over the credits.

Another song Tim was commissioned for was Runs In The Family, which was done for the centenary of NZ cricket. He's also done some obscure work on children's albums - The Underwater Melon Man (Neil has some songs on that too) and The Magnificent Nose - Anna Fienberg stories read by Anna Paquin, with some little songs from Tim thrown in.

I loved this documentary...especially the closing shot of the car waving down the road to eradicate as many toads as possible! I remember thinking that was Tim's voice at the time Wink

Okay, I've only seen this once and years ago, but I could have sworn the lyric included

"main roads are hummin'
with the cane toad blues!"

Or something to that effect.

You're right...if you go to the "badmovies" link in the post above yours and scroll down to "Sounds", you can listen to a clip of the song.

The rest of that link is rather funny, too..."Things I Learned From This Movie - drug users constantly listen to sitar music"...LOL!

Sorry about the lyrics folks only heard the song twice once on the afore-mentioned show and once again on the repeat! Thought I'd post what I'd got as I'm sure this wasn't mentioned on the forum before (It is a bit obscure) - I didn't expect to find so much (any! - which is why I didn't look - ha what a rubbish researcher!) info on Google on it though thanks to AGM 155 for saying about the video and allowing me (finn-ally) to put 2 + 2 together. SmilerGlad that you are all able to hear it via the link - I've got to get hold of a soundcard for this computer Mad

I thought it was a well-produced and informative documentary. A cautionary tale!

I had totally forgotten about this song and documentary. A flatmate of mine at uni taped the show and I watched it with her totally unaware of the Finn connection. It was a catchy song used in the end credits. Some more lyrics I can remember:

Heading south,
Like a case of foot and mouth

I'd love to see the documentary and hear the song again!

I loved this doco before I even realised that Tim was responsible for the most catchy closing song, had to finally update my VHS version to a DVD that also comes with a rather amusing chicken doco along similar lines.

I can't imagine chickens posing that sort of menace!

Not so much similar in terms of the message given, just the humour with which it's presented. Chicken owners who have many of them, name them all and groom them like dogs. I must confess to only having watched it once, somewhat half-heartedly. Still, for those interested it's pretty easy to pick up through eBay for around $20 Aussie. Certainly contains a few chuckles!

The online Blockbuster site has this doc available for rental--I was able to check it out via this avenue. Fascinating stuff. And, despite the fact that I knew Tim had contributed to the soundtrack, it was still a very pleasant surprise to hear his voice come up at the end. Funky little tune, cool stuff.

My wife and I rented this from Netflix. It was totally worth an evening of viewing. Both the Cane Toad doco and the short film were very cute and quite silly.

Well I'm sorry to say that this really does not appeal to me. Razzer

Not even with Tim's input.

I haven't seen it, but you know when the prospect of something just leaves you cold?

Still, its good that others are enjoying it. Smiler

Never mind Netflix...I just checked the local library's website and they have it. I put it on reserve; at which time the website told me I am number 1 on the list...apparently nobody else is waiting to see this dvd except me...lol!

Finally watched this dvd tonight...there was an awful lot of toad porn going on in it! Red Face lol
But I did find it rather interesting (yes, I am a wildlife geek) and funny.
