I've noticed a few dates on this side of the pond for the coming year:

THURSDAY 3 JUNE - http://newcastle.lizottes.com.au/live/index.asp

FRIDAY 4 JUNE - http://www.lizottes.com.au/live/

Neither of those dates are listed on his MySpace page. Are there any other Aussie dates for this year flying under the radar? I know I should be satisfied with seeing him 3 times last year, but I'm never satisfied.

I hope there'll be some Melbourne dates, or I won't get to see him this time around. Frowner

Gah, why he insists on playing that horrendously overpriced dive is beyond me. Actually I'm kinda surprised given what Brett had to say about it last time Smiler but I guess he doesn't make the decisions.

Looks like a Juneish tour, nice winter warmer Smiler

Yes, it was pricey.

I'm being very fussy about how much I'll pay to go to shows these days.

If there's no Melbourne shows, its not an issue, but I won't be paying hundreds - its not like I haven't seen him before. Smiler

Its always nice to have a show to look forward to though, and failing Melbourne shows eventuating, its nice to be looking forward to shows for other people. Wink

As in I live "vacariously" through others going to Tim's shows when I can't get there. Roll Eyes

I get almost as much of a kick knowing that others are enjoying it, and that its out there, as I do from attending myself. Smiler

Oh, never mind. Razzer

Umm as great as it is that Tim is doing all these aussie shows, what about NZ? Seeing him with Bic and Dave was cool, but what about a solo tour of NZ?

I'm also only interested in a Tim solo tour.

As much as I respect Bic and Dave, the winery tour is not something I would have chosen to go on because I do prefer it to be Tim only on stage (unless its Split Enz of course).

I'm also wanting to go back to NZ when he does a solo tour there but it won't happen this year for me. I've started a permanent job and it looks like it'll be ongoing, and its going to mean various changes etc.

However for anyone in NZ I hope he does a tour there soon. And for myself, I hope he does a tour there next year. Smiler

Personally, I enjoyed the intimacy of Lizotte's. The food was delicious, the entertainment even more so and I had never been so close to Tim before. I know what it's like to be on a budget, it can be most frustrating, but I find it somewhat disrespectful to the artist, when people start complaining about prices. I have paid twice as much to see someone I love only half as much.
Are tix already on sale?

Speaking for myself aFINNity, the artist and any disrespect towards them which may be interepreted don't even enter the picture.

And it will be a financial decision for me. My wage is "it" (at present) and I have to be responsible with it because I have financial commitments.

If Crowded House tix are over $100.00 this time around, then the simple fact is that I won't get to see them because of the price. I doubt that Crowded House themselves will have set that fee, and its not my way of rebelling against them. Its a financial fact.

If Tim's tix are over $100.00 this time, I can't go. I'd be very disappointed because I always look forward to seeing his shows (its a really good night out) but I have to be responsible about the financial decisions I make (at long last Smiler).

I don't get out much ( Razzer) for one reason or another and so one of these shows is a real treat for me.

I find it disappointing, when looking forward to seeing my favourite artist perform, but finding ticket prices out of my range. Frowner

People can take things how they wish, but I don't feel it's disrespectful to the artist to complain about price. For me, it's not about the money, but value for it, and that I didn't get at Lizotte's. The food was not that good for the price and reputation, and people spoke throughout the gig, particularly the support acts. I'd expect better at such a venue. If Tim wants to play there and people want to see him there that's their business. I just hope that he plays some less pretentious venues also.

Speaking of talking thru concerts, did you notice how the crowd were on the winery tour? Especially round the front for some reason. I know the wine was flowing freely and people were drunk, but why stand up the front if you don't care enough about the performance to STOP TALKING WHILE PEOPLE ARE SINGING?!! It got so bad, I had to lean right over the front fence, so I could hear properly. I even had to bother security at Sacred Hill, asking them to tell a certain drunken KWIJIBO (thankyou, Zebrasnake!)to stop talking/shouting in my ear, while people were singing. I'm totally dumb as to what "Don't talk to me, I'm trying to listen" means in Kwijibo lingo, I only said it 7 times!
Windsor Castle in Sep'09 was pretty bad also, constant chatter, while Tim was singing and/or trying to communicate. Thank God I was right in front of a speaker.
I think it's great the way Kiwis don't celebrity-worship. Some good, old-fashioned RESPECT, however would not go astray.
Sorry, BTW if I offended anyone before. I had just had an altercation with another hotel guest. Think we were both under-slept.

I know drinking
I know singing
I know screaming
I know loving
I know feeling
But SLEEP?

Edited to say holy mother of Tim, all the good seats for the Newcastle show are already booked! I could never have rallied enough folk for a decent seat anyway. (SIGH!) How long have these tix been on sale? I've been a little out of touch. That's what you get for waking up in Auckland. I have booked a stage-side table for 2, for the Kincumber show. If my noisy friend is back from Canada, I might see if he wants to come. He had better keep the volume down, or I swear I will turn into Medusa....

So at the time of writing just these 3 small dates:
3 June – Lizottes, Newcastle
4 June – Lizottes, Kincumber
5 June – Roth’s Wine Bar, Mudgee

(on www.frenz.com/timfinn/)

BUT there will be some larger theatre shows towards the end of the year (no confirmed dates yet- sorry).

Thanks Gryph.

I had hoped that we'd be hearing about Melbourne dates but I guess we can't know about them until you do. Smiler

Never mind. I for one will look forward to hearing more info when its to hand, and will keep fingers crossed that he'll get to Melbourne and that I can go. Big Grin

You get that more at outdoor gigs, especially ones like that where picnics are involved, it's a social thing, not purely a gig. Have to agree it's a bit much up front though. Another thing with such gigs (and this tour was no exception) the sound is generally better a bit further back. The one night I was close to the stage I couldn't hear the chat between songs, people talking around me or no, it just wasn't loud enough there.

What about a solo NZ tour Gryph? Surely long overdue.
