Funny that TheBoxer isn't around to back up their words or respond to the retorts.

Do we have our first forum troll in a long time? If yes, then your comments aren't welcome here.

By way of perspective, the "Tim Finn" and "Befor and AFter" albums were astounding, both in terms of soul, songwriting, vocal production, etc.

Couldn't agree more with you Steve, save pehaps regarding the production on Tim Finn and Before & After.

I strongly disagree I find Tim Finn & Before After dated production wise (examples How'm I Gonna Sleep, Hit The Ground Running etc I feel are very product of their time - I am however NOT faulting the songs) I prefer SIIS (in fact it's my favourite Timbo album!) I love the production on this and FTG. Horses for courses Big Grin

I don't profess to know anything about Tim or his working methods at all, but maybe he's just better at working at his own pace.

Good Point.

Good Point.

And one that renders further speculation on same somewhat moot Smiler

In any case - I think the title of this thread is deceiving at this stage.

I think, perhaps, you misunderstood me. I was agreeing with Steve that I love those 2 albums but for the fact that I have some issues with the production.

For myself... I would hesitate to dump the blame on the producer, but I was disappointed by Imaginary Kingdom because of the style of the music.

Feeding The Gods and Say It Is So were, well, more rock than IK. I think there is a difference in Tim's writing on those songs, a punchier style of lyrics and delivery.

Imaginary Kingdom's music just doesn't hold my attention as much.

I'm not sure what I should make, though, of the fact that Goldenhorse's cover of "I'll Never Know" impresses me so much. I'm not sure if I don't like it more than Tim's recording of it, and haven't sorted out why that might be.

I would be amused by a major label releasing and promoting a Tim album with that song, though.

"And dear radio
Tell me what's wrong
You sound so sad
Has your list of songs
Finally driven you mad?"
