I was wondering if anybody knows just how many videos Tim has done in his solo career and for which songs. I remember reading somewhere that Tim didn't them so that may mean that he hasn't done that many.

I found the four videos that were on the "Feeding The Gods" CD (Funny story... I bought the U.S. version Feeding The Gods the first time I saw it in the store, bought it again when I saw the import with different pix hoping for a lyric sheet and bought another copy when I found an enhanced CD version with the videos... so I own THREE copies of Feeding the Gods!). They were all pretty crude (low production value) but fun to watch. Strangely violent too. I'm also aware of the "What You've Done" video on the EP of the song but I haven't seen it yet. Plus, I remember seeing a video on VH-1 years ago of "Not Even Close" (I think it intercuts shots of Tim at the beach).

I know that a collection of these videos on DVD is too much ask for. But does anybody know what was made and if they are available somehow. What were some of his best clips?

I believe I've seen a snippet of the video for "Fraction too Much Friction", but never the whole thing. That's the only solo Tim video I've seen!

So the only Tim Finn videos that I know of are (chronologically):

Fraction Too Much Fiction
Not Even Close
Underwater Mountain
Big Wave Rider
Twinkle
Death Of A Popular Song
What You've Done

I gotta believe that Tim made more videos for his songs than this! What about something from "Big Canoe"?

Any help with this list would be great!

The singles on Big Canoe were "No Thunder", "Carve You in Marble", and "Spiritual Hunger". It's likely there are video clips for these, although I haven't seen them.

Oh, and there definitely is a video for "How'm I Gonna Sleep" from Tim Finn.

"Made my Day" with Tim as a Priest is pretty good...."Fraction.." is the one that get's shown here...I have this vague memory that Nick Seymour might of worked on some of the set direction for it........"Not even close" is a really nice clip....they waited for the "right wave" think it was filmed on the Californian coast.....
"You saved the world.." which features the always sexy -Sir Les Patterson.....clip for "Home for my heart" mostly content from the C.Cola Kid Movie....the first Tim solo CD had 4 or 5 clips....loads of Ballerina's and Tim in drag for "Fraction..." Hit after hit here....

The MAIN problems...about these all being put together as one collection (DVD):
1/ finding masters, even the "hits" in Australia
have a problem that the master has gone walk about....(I did just find a one inch master of "Made my Day" however).

2/ Obviously the clips that wern't connected with HITS wouldn't of recouped...so money could be owing.....and video clips are not cheap to make....so on the low sellers $$$$$
could be owing.

3/ Tim has been with quite a few record companies- Mushrom, A&M, Virgin, EMI, etc
so the one company doesn't hold all the rights
so there would have to be some begging and maybe more $$$

There are probably a few other hassles but you get the drift, it's not as easy as the Enz where Mushroom are connected to all the clips and they have all recouped and with most we have a 1" or Beta SP master.....

TF's career is a lot harder to encapsulate as a video clips collection...

It was/is interesting to read all the stuff about the Videoclips which Tim has done (solo).
I will try and add maybe a few more, either in good/bad quality.(however not chronologicly)
Parihaka- Through the years- Staring at the embers- Not even close- How Im gonna sleep- Made my day- Spiritual hunger- Fraction- Carve you in marble- No thunder no fire no rain- Long hard road- Persuasion- Many's the time- Hit the ground running- 4 clips of the FTG- Strange night- and it sure would be great to have these in "good" quality VHS or DVD!!!!!

Thanks for all of your input everybody!

Here's my list (more or less chronological):

Fraction Too Much Fiction
Staring At The Embers
Made My Day
Through The Years
Home For My Heart
Carve You In Marble
No Thunder, No Fire No Rain
Spiritual Hunger
You Saved The World...
Not Even Close
How'm I Gonna Sleep
Parihaka
Long Hard Road
Hit the Ground Running
Persuasion
Many's The Time
Underwater Mountain
Big Wave Rider
Twinkle
Death Of A Popular Song
What You've Done

You brought up some good points, Peter. I never realized there would be so much "red tape" involved in any compilation undertaking of Tim's videos. Being from "The States" I never got a chance to see 99% of these. Knowing that there are SO many clips... especially the stuff from "Big Canoe" (my favorite Tim album)... makes me sad that I probably won't have a chance to see ANY of this stuff.

In regard to Karen Clapton's post, I'm not aware of "Strange Night". Forgive my ignorance, is it a song of Tim's? What album is it on?

Strange Night is a song of Tim's, which I think was a b-side to a single (Home for my heart?) between Escapade and Big Canoe.

Thanks for the info for "Strange Night". I was told that the song is from "Coca Cola Kid". It's the song Tim Finn sings during a club scene... which explains why it appears on the B-side of "Home for My Heart".

Add Couldn't Be Done and Horizon to that list.

And the Hit The Ground Running and Perusasion videos sadly are no longer on www.musicbrigade.com

Someone, PLEASE put those vids on YouTube!

Fandorina, it doesn't seem to work for me. I have waited for ages while the clip was "loading", but no video. What's the trick?

Bringing Tim's music up to date, there are definitely videos for Couldn't Be Done and Horizon from Imaginary Kingdom. The Couldn't Be Done video is really good, and the Horizon one is animated.

Peter hit the nail onthe head with regards to the problem being that Tim has been on different labels throughout his solo career.

Whereas both the Enz and the Crowdies have stayed predominantly been contracted to the same label throughout their respective careers.
