I made a compilation CD of one song from every Finn-related studio album (except for ALT cause I'm yet to buy that - I'll do it in the next week or so), and between the remastered Time and Tide and Conflicting Emotions songs, the Escapade track sounded, well, underwhelming. Do you think it's time for this brilliant pop album to be remastered? It could be used especially well now around a new Tim release to generate interest.

I tend to prefer NF compared to TF things but a remastered Escapade is certainly something that I will back 100%. Especially seeing as how I'm finding it difficult to track this thing down.

Well, I'm not the biggest of fans of the old Escapade,(as TR already knows Razzer) BUT any remastering of any of Timbo's music has to be a good thing and of course I'd support it (maybe, even buy it!! Big Grin)

You guys are reading my mind...as I was ironing the spouse's khakis an hour ago, I was thinking specifically about how fab it would be to have Escapade remastered.

Of course, many things are fab when the alternative is ironing Smiler

Count me in.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Escapade has some very nice songs on it, but but ... the production Eeker. Could it be more early-80ies? Not the most inspired either. In short: these songs have been done a disfavour. Remix, I say.

Since I started as a Crowdie, and have sort of been catching up on other finn over the past few years, there's a lot of music I've discovered after the fact. Anyway, Tim's albums I've sort of been getting to know in reverse, and I finally got around to Escapade, and when it got to Through the Years, I knew within a couple bars that I KNOW this song! Hey, this is a song I liked from years ago, before I would have known the name Tim Finn. It is so familiar to me, I can't help but wonder if maybe it was on a various artists record I once had or something??? Anyway, its kind of cool to discover songs you already know, and I find it especially cool when they turn out to be Finn Smiler

A remaster of Escapade certainly would be fantastic. Put my name down for one!

That is exactly how I feel about Big Canoe, if there's one album that needs to be remixed, that's the one. There are some brilliant songs hiding on there.

But not Escapade. Escapade was my first introduction to Tim. I'd never heard of Split Enz, or Neil, then.
And to me Escapade is perfect just as it is. Remastering it might be a good idea, but I wouldn't want it remixed.

I have to agree - with Magbolt. This was my first ever Finn album and was before I'd even heard of Crowded House, Neil Finn or Split Enz. I'd love a remix of Big Canoe, though.

I'd like to see an Eddie remix-remaster of Escapade. Think it could do with a remaster.

The vinyl still sounds better than my Mushroom Cd, but i can hear an Eddie Reggae Remix on "Fraction Too Much Friction". Maybe even a bit of dub. Cool Eeker Cool Well, only joking. Could certainly do with a digital dust off for sure. Smiler

Do you reckon Eddie would be happy doing Escapade considering what it sorta did to the Enz? If he was, then I couldn't think of a better person for the job.

Hmm, Roll Eyes good point there AGM155.
Forgot about that little chapter of Enz history. Still, maybe they could mark the master tape box, "Lost Enz Album", & hope that Ed doesn't notice. He should be fine till he gets to "Staring At The Embers", & then it might all start flooding back, with reprocussions. You know the sort of thing, drawing a moustache on the original artwork, changing the track sequence, mixing the vocals down (to zero). Just to give it a whole new perspective. Eeker

Maybe Mark Moffat, or Ricky Fataar could do the remastering, as the original producers, i'm sure they would do the job.

I am seeing a Remasterd Digi-pack with bonus tracks. I am just looking to see who did the remastering on the back &.......nope, crystal ball has gone all foggy. Shame.

But check this out. Timbo is in an Encyclopedia!

& if Ed remastered Big Canoe as well, you'd hope the artwork wouldn't end up being Big Gnu or something. Then you'd probably think, I don't think he's let go of the past.

Still, forgive & forget hey?

Lol "Big Gnu". And I agree with bonus tracks - "Below the Belt" springs to mind immediately.

Hmm, don't know "Below The Belt". Was it a B side to one of the singles?
Wonder what it's about.
Does sound a little painful. Red Face

Yeah it was the b-side to Fraction Too Much Friction I think. It's a good song. It replaced a song (Grand Adventure?) on some releases, too, I think, but I've never seen any versions like this. Maybe it was the US release?

No, it was the European release, or Holland at least.
I've already talked about this once before, so I don't want to repeat myself, but it's here if you want to read it...

NFADDICT, try http://www.sanity.com.au/ (Sanity music) for Escapade. Thats where I got mine from.

Re: Escapade.

Yup. I'd like a remaster, but then I don't think there's anything drastically wrong with it as it is, so a remaster, unless it's really radical, would probably be wasted on me anyway. (In more ways than one.)

I would not like a remix though.
Tim's music is fine just as it is, flaws and all, and I wouldn't want some numpty who thinks he/she knows better to mangle it. LOL

...Fizzy.

Beat you to it Fizzy. I already thought of Sanity's website. Unfortunately the only payment options that were working at the time was: Pay by CREDIT CARD. Mad
Online vouchers seem to be hard to come by at the moment. Frowner
Oh well, I held out long enough chasing Enz albums:
-Conflict. Emotions {GOT!Big Grin}
-Time and Tide {Still Waiting OnEeker}
-See Ya Round {GOT!Big Grin}
-Frenzy {Ordered Original Print from Sanity Music on the exact same day that I registered on this very forum. Paid for it outright.Waiting, waiting, waiting, READY TO GIVE UP AND TRY FOR REMASTERED REMIX! Roll Eyes}
Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I can hold out for Escapade for a little while longer. Wink

Not to worry Nfaddict,
Maybe try Red Eye Records. Nfaddict. They accept Aust Money Orders, & are located in Sydney. Might cost you a little extra for postage, but they have Escapade for quite an affordable price at the moment.

Then you'll be able to hum along in a Minor Key. Or just flats & sharps like me. Eeker Roll Eyes

Edited, because i forgot to ask what a 'numpty' is. What's a numpty? Confused
