Onya mate! *I* wasn't going to say it again ... copped enough for doing so last time Roll Eyes

Anyway, to the topic at hand, for those yet to receive their FOTE newsletter, Tim's note says that he will be recording an acoustic album with Eddie Rayner, Miles Golding and with Brett Adams on guitars again. This utterly makes MK's Christmas! Tim, I'd hug you if the ditch weren't currently in the way! Big Grin

I haven't seen the newsletter yet (I await it with eager anticipation ...) but an ACOUSTIC album?? YAY!! On the IK bonus DVD, I liked Tim's acoustic versions of his older material tremendously. It really brought out the great melodies. The more stripped down the better, I'd say. I'm already looking forward to it ... Big Grin

Last night he mentioned himself, Golding, Rayner and his current guitarist, Brett. He said that Golding has been doing classical music all this time so would be bringing refreshing(?) naievete (!) and technical excellence.

No bass. No drums. !

Assuming Tim commences recording of his new album in April (as mentioned), does anyone know from previous experience what the time lapse is between the recording of a new album, and then the launch of it?

I know mummakook attended the launch in New Zealand in 2006 of Imaginary Kingdom, but I don't remember whether we know when he started recording that album.

I'm asking because I'd very much like to go to New Zealand if he chooses to launch Echo Chamber there. However. And that is the hiccup - I'd have to be able to get the time off (over a holiday period, or Cup Day weekend would really help Tim Wink) and I would have to be able to afford it.

That's what credit cards are for in any case, so it would prolly end up being a time issue.

I'd be interested in anyone's informed opinion about this, because I'm seriously thinking about it.

Or he could choose to launch it in Melbourne. Big Grin Or I'd probably even consider going to Sydney for it if it was on a weekend. Cool

Yes, I certainly agree. Cool

Apparently the next newsletter will include info on Tim's new album (Peter posted about it on TITM). Smiler

Even if the only info provided is a release date, that's something for discerning and sophisticated people to be going on with. Big Grin

Yes, a release date would be lovely info, indeed! Back in December when gryphon started this thread, April seemed so far away....and here it is. Hopefully Tim and friends are having a creative and productive time in the studio. Like the rest of you, I am eagerly awaiting the result!

The idea of a Tim Finn album...a new Tim Finn album...wow. I'd love that. In fact, maybe I start a poll.

Welcome indeed, TFFChCh! Those of us who prefer the older brother are definitely in a minority, although it does seem to have been a growing one of late!

Don't worry, I think Tim kinda crept up on a few of us that way, and yes I include myself in this. While growing up in this part of the world he and his music have always been "there" as part of the soundtrack of my life, indeed in my music collection, I was sheken to my senses a few years ago now ... realising at last just how amazing he indeed is!

No better way to get ready for Tim's new album than to familiarise yourself with the back catalogue TFFF ChCh Big Grin

If you don't have them, or haven't heard them already, there's a list of them in the poll which is running at the moment.

His new one will be fantastic, but I always find that in anticipation of new music, its also great to listen to old music.

*reaches for Escapade* Big Grin Wink

I'll amend that to comment that I also now reach for IK. Really love that album. Smiler

Welcome and enjoy. Always nice to see Tim getting the appreciation he has always deserved.

I didn't wait too long. I was 14 and he was lovely and he made me laugh. And boy, could he sing. I'm 44 now and he's still lovely, still makes me laugh and he can still sing. Big Grin

Can't wait for the new album and maybe some touring.

I can't say how excited I am for this album....Imaginary Kingdom was amazing. It's just seeming like his voice gets better with age.
I only have Escapade, Before and After, Tim Finn, Feeding The Gods and Imaginary Kingdom. I'd just love to find Big Canoe and Say It Is So!

Well it'll be worth it Say It Is So is my favourite! If you have the US version of Feeding the Gods that has the four videos from it & I think they're great - but then again I'm warped! Big Canoe has it's moments too Carve You In Marble - No Thunder etc. Try & track down The Les Patterson Long Player (soundtrack) which too has it's moments - With You I'm Alive and Steel City if you can find a copy - even I don't own this! Frowner & this has it's fan's doesn't it Camus Big Grin
