From the above posts, I appear to be very much in the minority but I really like The Conversation as a title. It has a certain warmth to it unlike the image/feeling I get from the Echo Chamber title. However it will be all about the songs which will no doubt be fabulous despite what the title is. Bring it on Tim

At the end of the day, it's what it sounds like not what's written on the cover.
I've never bought or not bought an album cause I liked or didn't like it's name! every form of refuge has it's price..... |

Wow, The Conversation. I think i've seen the cover for this somewhere...
I was hoping for something like It Is So Big Canoe 2, or Big Marmalade Escapade Canoe God. Some intriguing song titles there though. "The Saw & The Tree" sounds like an interesting title. Perhapse the album could be subtitled, "Tool Time With Tim"...I Let My Power Tools Do The Talking....(Then The Tree Will Listen). Ok, perhapse not. Looking forward to hearing this new album. Any country tinged tracks as yet? Every artist has at least one good country & western album in them. -------------------------------------------- Oranjekoek...lekker! |

If you type that out loud Seany, I'm going to get a ruler and smack your fingers. I hope to goodness that Tim absolutely does not have a country & western album in him, not matter how good. Texas Rose |

If you're taking your boots and hat, I'll take my ruler. Nashville Eyeliner eh? I guess a country and western tinge on a song by Tim would be interesting. I thought he went a little bit that way with one or two of those Finn Brothers songs. I don't dislike country and western as such, its just that it was shoved down my throat at the many horse shows (western) that I attended, and they play the same record over and over, and it kind of cures you. I'm sure I'll like Tim's new songs no matter what they are, and no matter what name the album is ( Texas Rose |

Haven't you kids heard I See Redabilly? Tim is tapping a rich vein there, he's obviously open to all genres of music, bless his heart

I'd completely forgotten about that. I liked it okay, but... well, I liked it okay. I suppose if he headed for country and western, and I could stop gnashing my teeth long enough, it would be more about the content of the lyrics, than the type of music they were set to. I love Tim's lyrics - I think they're deep, clever and thoughtful (I feel that way about Neil's too. Country and western wouldn't undermine it much. Texas Rose |

So, if Timbo did "Nashville Canoe" or "Feeding The Hogs", so long as the lyrics were good, the pedal steels, mandolins, fiddles & banjos could stay? Brilliant.
I always thought, "Don't Bury My Heart (On The Prairie)" was a song crying out for a bit of fiddle & pedal steel guitar. Or "Before & After (Rhinestone Cowboy)" could have done with some more mandolin & gingham. & a Nashville re-recording of Escapade (With Whitey Kinkade) done in a bluegrass style with Jerry Douglas & Alison Krause on backup "whoops" & "yeehas" would give "Fraction To Much Friction" a whole new McCoys v Hatfields slant that i feel has always dwelt at the subtextural level of the original lyrics. & if Dolly's in town, who's not to say that a reworking of "Islands In The Stream" isn't on the proverbial "Rodeo" card. Or even (drool, drool), a reworking of an old Jimmy Webb classic, such as "By the time i get to Wanganui, she'll be milkin'". The new album artwork is almost finished, & will probably look something like this... "The Conversation"Right, i'll be boot scootin' across those misty Moors now...Keep them dawgies movin', ride em in... Raw hide??? -------------------------------------------- Oranjekoek...lekker! |

I have to say that I've warmed quite a bit to "The Conversation" after comments which Martine made elsewhere.
I'd still be pleased if he went with "Echo Chamber" but "The Conversation" is now sitting very comfortably with me. As has been previously said, as long as the music is terrific, I'll buy the album regardless of the title. (And I'm still chasing both Camus and Seany... Texas Rose |

Maybe I could handle that. The conditions would have to be right. If it was both Tim and Neil, yeeehaa-ing together as they jump a gorge in their badass tricked out Dodge Charger (the General Te Whiti) with the flag of the Republic of Aotearoa emblazoned on its roof for instance - that might work. -- > _ |

If Tim's next clip shows him sauntering over the horizon, on a horse (
I didn't mind the country feel to a couple of Finn Brothers tunes a while back, so maybe all it takes is the song being in the right context. Not a whole album though... Texas Rose |
