Did Schnell Fenster ever play any live shows at all, does anybody know? I know Phil Judd said he didn't like playing live but didn't they tour to promote the albums or anything?

Yeah they did, Jean. At least in Australia, but only to promote the first album (nothing for "OK Alright" - as by that stage, I distinctly remember bombarding Peter Green with "When are Schnell Fenster touring to promote the new album, then?" letters on a regular basis, and getting nothing more satisfactory - from a fan's viewpoint, naturally - than "Nope, Phil doen't like touring and because of the holdups in getting this album released, I don't think the record company would support a tour anyway"... grrr to the record label then, if that's the case!!! Roll Eyes )

Hmm, that's all I can add on this one, I'm afraid. Anyone got any more details???

I never caught them live unfortunately, but SF definitely toured New Zealand at least once, to promote the Sound of Trees. They supported Crowded House and I'm sure they also did some shows of their own. This would have been 1989 as I recall. At the end of the Crowded House concert in Auckland Tim Finn came on stage and they all played a few Split Enz tunes together (except Phil, who was offstage recording the concert at that point.)

Yep '88 around Australia for Sound of Trees.

There's at least one tape out there - from Brisbane and it's pretty good - great finish with Schnell Fenster doing Counting The Beat Smiler

I had tickets for a gig they were due to do in London in '88 - sadly it didn't happen.

Phil Judd did play with Crowded House, though. He joined on guitar in the middle of "When You Come".

Yes, I remember being at that 1989 show in Auckland. Schnell Fester were on before Crowded House. At the encore, the ex-Split Enz members of both bands (except Phil) reunited along with a very scruffy looking Tim, and for a glorious few minutes I witnessed Split Enz in the flesh for my only time.

There are four live Schnell Fenster tracks on this page of Phil's website...there's also all of SF's video clips and various other Phil related goodies.
