Greetings, All -- sometimes I'm a little slow or behind the times in discovering a good thing, and that's the case with Phil Judd's musical work. I've heard some of his other recent recordings, and I've just played "Eyes In the Back of My Head," and I am just plain hooked. This man is an incredibly creative and gifted artist. I'm with the rest of you, I can't wait 'til the new album is released!

+Jeri in Auckland, but from the US, here for a time.....

Just got myself an mp3 player and been listening to the 3 tracks Phil has released here. I have to say these grow on you more and more.

At first I saw these as demos and likely contenders for an enzish collaboration but the more I listen to them the more I think they are great as they are. 100% Judd with no-one else in the mix.

There is a freshness about the songs that makes them fun and compelling listening. To me this is the best he has recorded.

Phil, dont lose heart on this project - something like this from you has been long overdue.

Thanks for the advice, Incognito. I was patient with the downloads and it was definately rewarded. The white screen finally gave way to some great music!! How exciting to hear something new from Phil, yet it sounds so much like he hasn't been gone!
I'm not good at explaining songs like you guys are, but I loved what I've heard so far.
But, is there a chance Phil may not complete the album? If so, please Phil, let's hear from you soon. We're here to listen!

Those of you awake at 2pm NZ time today, Saturday 24th (2am GMT Sat Morn), can hear a brief excerpt from another new Phil Judd composition. "Idol Eyes" has been adopted and adapted as the theme music for "Home Grown", a three hour music show on Radio NZ's National Radio. You can listen live online at http://www.radionz.co.nz

Again today at about 2.05 pm NZ time (0200 GMT) you can hear Phil Judd's theme music for National Radio's "Home Grown" show. Go to http://www.radionz.co.nz/ and click on the National Radio live stream in the top right corner.

At around about 2.30pm, Mike Chunn will be talking about this year's Play It Strange competition. It's possible that we might play ten seconds or so of Phil Judd's original 1977 demo of the song, but I can't guarantee it, sorry.

Well the good news is that the autographed JUDD
'Novelty Act' cds avilable via FOTE were mailed this afternoon, 9 days earlier then we expected.

Mister Phudd made a lightening visit and signed them all today, and most would of caught the afternoon mail- so some of you will get them as early as tomorrow. We have TEN signed copies left for those interested. (emailRazzereter@frenz.com).

ALSO www.philjudd.com is NOW active (a day early) so check it out. So not long till many of you have the 'real' CD in your hot little hands!

Enjoy!

...and not forgetting Jaffa!

Cheers for keeping us up-to-date, releasing previews, and building anticipation over these past 18 months (yes, it has been that long I believe!)

Phil being promoted through the internet like this has clearly done wonders for his fan base and popularity, especially with the release of the demo mp3s we all got a sweet taste of.

If the whole Arctic Monkeys story has taught us anything, it's that the allowing of material to be previewed online before it's "official" release can only be a positive. Now I'm not saying Phil's going to ship 5,000,000,000 copies in his first week, but you get my drift... Big Grin

By the way, 2006:
- Split Enz Reformation National Tour
- 20 Years since the first Crowded House Album
- 10 Years since Farewell to the World
- First Album from Phil Judd in... 16(?) years
- 1000 post milestone for Jaffa! (Congrats!)

This is my first post in over 2 months by the way. For those of you who don't remember or know me... it's probably a good thing Smiler

Not mentioned on the Phil Judd site though, was this a real song Jaffa?

No, it was Phil playing with you, Camus, after you'd said you were underwhelmed by "Soulmate" or something similar. Smiler

Ah Phil, it grew on me, and from what I've heard of Novelty Act it's a great album, looking forward to it.

I've been waiting for Novelty Act forever!
Phil Judd is one of my biggest musical heroes.

Will it only be for sale exclusively on the website?

I don't have Pay Pal, and skimming through the shipping info I noticed outside of Australia it can take 28days... I'm in New Zealand!

Slime, I ordered my copies at the end of last week and they arrived today (yay!). The 28 days refers to territories further away.

At the moment it's also available through the Frenz of the Enz fanclub. You don't need to use Paypal to buy items from the club but you do need to be a member, and that costs something like $15 a year(approx). It's possible the album might get a major label release sometime down the line, but that's up in the air. Buy one now and get a signed copy.

Has anyone else received their "Novelty Act" CDs yet? This is the first time I've seen the full artwork. Brilliant.
