It doesn't get uploaded here. You need it have it hosted elsewhere. Then you put that URL in the custom area for your avatar.

Does that help? Smiler

I think I can answer that... it would be The Banana Splits Big Grin

They featured in a kids' show back when I was a kid. Rumour has it that it was a rock group dressed up in those cossies, but the rumour that I heard never went so far as to name the rock group Razzer (I'd love to know if that was in fact true).

It makes a terrific avatar. Smiler

i like my new avatar, pity photobucket insists on resizing it even though it's smaller than 1MB

Yep- you guys picked it , they are the Banana Splits. I always had a thing for guys singing in weird costumes, even as a kid.
Trying to remember the theme song..

Wondering if everyone is aware that some avatar picture ~ jpegs and moving avatars ~ gifs are huge in file size and those with dial up connections would take forever to download a page here at Frenz.

Finding it increasingly difficult to open up some pages with huge huge file sizes on.

Greatfox your avatar is 1.8MB or 1 904 203 KBs which is a huge amount of data for computers to upload with every new thread. Would you be able to shorten the gif from 84 frames to something smaller please?

Also I don't mind Frenz using my avatars I've made, but its nice to ask first, instead of me finding my avatars being used elsewhere on the net.

Only have to PM if you want one made, or ask if you want to use an existing one.

cheers all
Kelly

Thanks for bringing this up Kelly, I actually find some of the larger moving avatars very annoying too. And I don't even have dial-up, but even with my broadband connection, some pages are very slow to load and scrolling down can be difficult too sometimes.

Could that be the main reason for struggling to upload a moving av? Confused Its too big? Confused I've tried several times and the system tells me that in short: It can not be done or that av is unavailable. Frowner

Yeah, I'm sure that must be the reason. Although I have no idea how to make them smaller, but Kelly would know.

NFAddict, not sure on the size of the avatar struggling to upload. I've made moving avatars for some which are small in size 100kbs but when the members have tried to load it here its only come up as a jpeg and not a moving gif.

Maybe try experimenting with a different photo storer on the net.

Photobucket has been good to me for avatars, haven't really used Imageshack for av's, only the wallpapers, as Imageshack doesn't resize your large jpeg (still photo) like photobucket does.

Trial and error, make sure you only have the alphabet used in your file name, and the underscore to separate words.

" ; * , . ? aren't recognised in a filename and won't load. So again alphabet only and underscore _ to be used.

Hope that helps.
